Snapchat takes a page from Meta’s playbook. The social media platform announced that it would launch creator subscriptions for users. Instagram and Facebook currently owned by Meta offer similar functionality.
On Snapchatcreator subscriptions will allow users to access exclusive content on Snaps and Stories. They will also get priority replies and be ad-free in stories. Snapchat is touting the new feature as a great way to give creators “the freedom to experiment” and “build a recurring revenue stream” – all good things for keeping people on your platform.
Creators can choose exactly how much they want to charge subscribers per month. They can divide these numbers between the levels recommended by Snapchat.
Starting February 23, select US-based Snapchat creators will be able to offer subscriptions. In the United States, iOS users should then be able to subscribe to their accounts. The feature is expected to expand to Canada, France, and the United Kingdom in the coming weeks.
