Even though America isn’t leading in medals, Team USA looks golden this year. Winter Olympics.
The American team has won 24 medals so far and seven of them are gold. The American team is in third place in total medals.

Breezy Johnson won gold in women’s alpine skiing on February 8, becoming the second American woman to accomplish the feat. It was the first Olympic medal of his career and the first gold medal for Team USA at this year’s Winter Games. She stood on the podium in tears to accept her gold medal, saying afterwards that “It doesn’t feel real yet.”
Team USA’s second medal came the same day after a hard-fought figure skating team event. Ilia Malinin, also known as the “God of the Quad”, took to the ice with the gold medal dependent on his performance. The breakout star delivered on his promise, earning Team USA enough points to defeat Japan.
On February 11, 20-year-old Elizabeth Lemley won gold in her Olympic debut in women’s moguls. Her teammate Jaelin Kauf won the silver medal. Speed skater Jordan Stolz won the gold medal in the men’s 1,000 meters, setting an Olympic record. SATURDAY, Stolz won his second gold medal, setting another Olympic record.
Norway currently leads the gold medal rankings, with 15 gold medals for the winter sports powerhouse. She also leads in total medals, with 32. Host nation Italy has a total of 25 medals, including nine gold.
