More than 1,500 prisoners expected to be released under Venezuela’s new amnesty law

At least 1,557 people, including opposition members, activists, human rights defenders and journalists detained in Venezuela for political reasons, are expected to be released from prison after submitting their applications under an amnesty bill that was signed into law this week, authorities said Saturday.
