Many Instagram and TikTok users have shared their own personal stories about avoiding LaMelo on the streets of Charlotte and the jokes are basically self-written.

NBA player LaMelo Ball crashed his Hummer in Charlotte earlier this week

According to The Charlotte Observer, Hornets star LaMelo Ball was in a “minor collision” on Wednesday, February 18 in downtown Charlotte at Trade and Tyron streets. People gathered at the intersection shortly after 4:30 p.m., shortly after the crash.
The Charlotte Observer shared that a manager at a business on the corner of the intersection said LaMelo’s camouflage Hummer crashed into a silver sedan in the middle of the intersection. The manager said he “never got out of his car or anything” before another car picked him up and he drove off.
It didn’t take long for footage of the accident to be found all over the internet and, sure enough, social media users jumped in and started sharing their stories about how LaMelo was driving around Charlotte.

‘The City of Charlotte is Talking about LaMelo as a Gotham Villain’
Social media was immediately lit up with stories about how this unfortunate incident is far from a first for LaMelo.
Playmaker Hoops shared a post on Instagram titled “Charlotte residents are making their voices heard,” and the comments quickly filled up. In the photo, they shared another post that read, “LaMelo terrorized the city of Charlotte. Almost everyone in this comments section has a story about him almost running them over.”
One person shared the same thought as many: “Sooo Gelo made this song about Melo.” Another added: “I believe him. Every time he leaves the arena he flies like a bat out of hell and doesn’t stop at the red light.” Another wrote: “He drives around Charlotte like he has no common sense.”

TikTok users also had plenty to share
There was more talk about LaMelo’s driving on the streets of Charlotte, and the theme was the same as on Instagram.
TikToker Dominique Cooper shared a video about how “LaMelo Ball’s car accident made Charlotte crazy.”
“First of all, anyone who gets into a car accident is not funny. I hope everyone who was in that car accident with LaMelo Ball is safe, no injuries, but why did that woman say he hit everyone, he almost hit everyone,” as he laughs and shares the funniest comments he found online.

“LaMelo Ball has the entire city of Charlotte held hostage”
On Instagram, @TheSlightlyBiasedShow shared a video explaining how “LaMelo Ball terrorizes an entire major city like he’s the Joker.”
“Every time a Hornets game ends, the entire city of Charlotte shuts down like it’s a purge,” he said. “Everyone needs to wait for LaMelo to get off the roads because it’s terrifying. The citizens of Charlotte, North Carolina are literally living in fear.”
After reading some comments he found, he added, “If you watch the local news in Charlotte, they literally follow the Hornets schedule like it’s the weather. By the time they go on a four-game road trip, it’s like the purge lifts and everyone can go out and enjoy the city without the fear of getting knocked over by LaMelo Ball.”

LaMelo Ball’s response when asked about the accident in the post-game presser
During the postgame press conference after the car accident, LaMelo was asked to “put into words the last 24 hours” and what it was like for him to play a game right after the accident.
“I’m just alive. Blessed, for real,” LaMelo said. “God is great, like I said.” He then got up and left the room.
ESPN shared the clip on TikTok and fans took to the comments to share their thoughts.
“No responsibility, not even an apology,” one fan pointed out. Another said: “He doesn’t care. And another wrote, “He can only be mad at himself. LaMelo could easily get a driver, but he chooses not to. He’s been tearing up and running around uptown for years without a care.”
But not everyone was angry with him.
