Britney Spears reportedly feels “embarrassed” about her drunk driving arrest because she is worried about how it might affect her children.

A spokesperson for the “Toxic” singer has since shared that she is “going to take steps” to get better and will have her sons by her side for emotional support.

Britney Spears was reportedly embarrassed by her recent arrest for driving under the influence as she worries about how it will affect her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.

A source close to the pop icon said she felt “very emotional and regretful” about the situation amid news that she is about to turn over a new leaf.

“She is very emotional and regretful this morning. She is also embarrassed because of how this could affect her sons,” the source said. People Magazine. “She loves them very much and never wants them to feel like she’s letting them down.”

After his arrest, a representative said the boys would always be by his side in hopes of helping him through this difficult phase.

“Her boys will spend time with her. Her loved ones will develop a necessary and expected plan to prepare her for success and well-being,” the rep said.

Kevin Federline made disturbing claims about the singer’s relationship with boys

Spears didn’t have the best relationship with her sons, who stayed with their father throughout their lives.

In her memoir “You Thought You Knew”, published in October 2025, Federline claimed that she and her children were not on good terms.

He claimed his visits with them became “less frequent, then stopped altogether” because the boys were “emotionally exhausted” by the dynamic. He also wrote about an incident in which she brandished a gun while watching them sleep.

“They would sometimes wake up in the night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep – ‘Oh, are you awake?’ – with a knife in his hand,” he wrote.

According to NewsNationa source also confirmed that they were not speaking at the time.

“Right now, she’s not talking to anyone,” the source said. “The boys are very worried about their mother, but there is not much they can do.”

The source also claimed that Spears was in a “very dark” place at the time, and shared that “the situation got very bad again.”

The “Gimme More” singer hit back at Federline’s claims in an X-rated post, but said her relationship with her sons is “complex.”

“I always begged and screamed to live with my boys,” she wrote. “Relationships with teenagers are complex. I felt demoralized by this situation and always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life.”

Spears continued: “Unfortunately, they have always witnessed the lack of respect shown by [their] own father for me. They must take their responsibilities. With one son only seeing me 45 minutes in the last 5 years, and the other with only 4 visits in the last 5 years. I too am proud. From now on, I’ll let them know when I’m available.”

The pop star added that she will “always love them” and tries to live a “sacred, private life” despite the media’s portrayal of her.

Kevin Federline’s book may have made the singer’s situation worse

Meanwhile, a source claimed that Federline’s damaging allegations in his memoir had a negative impact on him and led to a “downward” spiral that ultimately led to his arrest for drunk driving.

Speaking further about the singer’s recent spiral, the source told the outlet that Spears felt like her ex-husband, Federline, had “used” her after years of giving her everything he asked for while raising their sons.

The source said Spears “felt like she gave Kevin everything he wanted over the years” and “paid him so much money,” but he still “exploited” her with her memoir.

“He used her; he wanted to ruin her,” our source added. “And that was a very hard pill to swallow; it was absolutely killing her that someone would want to hurt her that much.”
