‘SNL’ roasts Kristi Noem after Trump fired her as DHS secretary

“Saturday Night Live” went straight for the jugular, opening with a brutal sendoff from the president Donald Trumpthe decision to start Kristi Noem from his position as Secretary of Homeland Security.

Colin Jost played the Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth during a fake press briefing, casually informing reporters that Noem had been “reassigned under the bus.” A few moments later, Ashley Padilla strutted in as Noem to set the record straight.

“I just want to make it clear that I was not fired,” she insisted. “I self-deported myself.”

Noem de Padilla called her exit from DHS “bittersweet,” joking she had to surrender her “badge, her gun, her lips, her eyelashes, her teeth and her forehead.” She added that her new office will be at a WeWork outside Denver.

As we reported… Trump announced Noem’s firing last week in a social media post, appealing to the Oklahoma senator Markwayne Mullin as his replacement.

The shakeup follows a tense Senate hearing in which Noem faced tough questions from lawmakers on both sides, including the Republican senator. Thomas Tillis of North Carolina, which criticized his leadership.
