Right on cue, the Amazon Big Smile sale offered a decent AU$50 off the Apple AirPods Pro 3 in-ear headphones, making this week a good time to pick up a pair for yourself if you’ve been eyeing them.
I saw Apple’s latest generation of ubiquitous headphones get the same discount during the Boxing Day sales in late 2025, so it’s good to see that Amazon has brought it back in its first major sale this year.
I’ve been using the Pro 3 since its launch in September, and while I wasn’t initially sure of its advantages over the Pro 2, I have to admit that the updated model is truly something special. I’ve really tried to find fault with them, but I haven’t found anything yet: they’re just fantastic.

My fellow audio enthusiast Becky Scarrott surmised that “iPhone owners who appreciate excellent, world-cutting noise cancellation need look no further than this set of headphones.” Plus, about the ANC, she adds, “it’s almost scary to suck the noise out of your ears.”
I especially have to agree with that last statement, because as soon as you put the Pro 3s in your ears and turn on noise cancellation, you’re immediately transported into a cocoon of silence. I’ve worn them while walking on busy roads and even vacuuming my house, and in every case I hear nothing but music in my ears – they truly are some of the best wireless headphones money can buy.
Now I’m all too aware that everyone’s ears are different and a pair of headphones that might be comfortable for one person might not be comfortable for someone else. I’m confident that no one will have a problem with the fit of the AirPods Pro 3 because Apple has redesigned the shape.
They fit into your ears at a slightly different angle than the Pro 2, making them safer and more comfortable. Plus, with a variety of silicone tips included, finding the perfect fit should be simple. You can see how the fit of the Pro 3 compares to the Pro 2 in the image above.
