I recently read a study with results that, honestly, I wasn’t ready for. It turns out that aging isn’t a slow, steady slide: it happens in waves. There’s a big surge during puberty (makes sense), then again in your early 40s, when everything seems to speed up at once (the collagen, the hormones, the skin texture, the works). SO if you looked in the mirror recently and noticed a new line that definitely wasn’t there a few weeks ago, you’re not crazy.
I’ve had several moments like that lately. A photo from a trip where I was like, Wait, when did that happen? A droopier eyelid after sleeping on my stomach (why do I still do that). And a particularly unflattering gym mirror situation involving my neck that I choose not to revisit. I’m not losing sleep over all this, but I’m motivated.
I like my close friends to rely on natural and low maintenance products. This energy is contagious and I think it has shaped my own aesthetic more than I realize. But our group chat also discusses Sculptra, a notice about microneedling downtime and whether lymphatic massage is worth it.
So I thought I would bring the same group discussion energy here. Although I love natural approaches, I also really enjoy learning about the latest treatments to help us feel better and more confident.
My goal with all of this is not to “fix” my face or stop the clock. It’s about maintaining healthy tone, texture and collagen levels so my skin can do its job. Because honestly? No amount of Botox or filler will repair skin that has lost its elasticity – and I think many people find this out the hard way.
I’ve tried a lot over the years and have some ideas. Here’s it all: what’s worth it, what I’d skip, what surprised me, and a few things I’m thinking about for 2026.
