Police don’t usually find dead bodies in their squad cars parked outside headquarters… but Tuesday wasn’t a typical day for these cops.
Officers with the Azusa Police Department discovered the body of a 37-year-old man Eric Valence decomposing in the back seat of one of their police vehicles.
The department released body camera footage of the officers making the grisly discovery Tuesday night, and yes…they had the same question as you right now: How the hell did Valencia end up in the squad car?
Here’s the story, according to Azusa PD… Valencia was arrested on March 20 for alleged drunkenness while driving a vehicle with his children in the back seat.
Valencia told cops he only drank one beer, but a breathalyzer test revealed his blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit.
He was arrested suspected of drunk driving and child endangerment and booked into the local jail.
After his release on March 23, Valencia approached the police vehicle in front of headquarters, opened an unlocked door and got into the back seat… all while showing no signs of distress.
A day later, Valencia’s family filed a missing person’s report with police before the body was found. The cause of his death is still undetermined.
