Sweden-based caller ID app Truecaller said Tuesday it has reached the milestone of 500 million monthly active users on its platform. The company said it also crossed the 150 million user mark outside India, its largest market with more than 350 million monthly users.
The company said it added 50 million users in 2025 and that its user base has doubled over the past five years. In April 2025, Truecaller said so had more than 450 million users. The company also noted that more than 4 million people subscribe to its paid plans.
“More people need help every day navigating spam, scams and unwanted communications,” Rishit Jhunjhunwala, CEO of Truecaller, said in a statement. “Reaching 500 million users shows the scale of this need and the trust people have in Truecaller to help make communication safer.”
“Our commitment remains focused on continually strengthening Truecaller with smarter technology and new capabilities that protect users before, during and after every call or message. Ultimately, our goal is to build a safer and more reliable communications ecosystem for everyone. We are now aiming for the next milestone: 1 billion users,” he added.
Truecaller has attempted to expand its services beyond caller ID in recent years. The company recently launched a feature that would allow a person to become an administrator and end calls on behalf of users in their family group to avoid being scammed. The company was also experiment with using AI to screen and answer calls.
Truecaller said TechCrunch last month it is also testing the use of AI to automatically monitor disconnected calls when certain words associated with scams are detected, such as “digital arrest” – a tactic in which perpetrators pose as law enforcement officers to extract information or money from call recipients.
In India, the company faces challenges from the country Presentation of caller name (CNAP), which displays the caller’s name as recorded on its telephone networks.
