Amazon has added nutritional therapy platform Berry Street to its Health Benefits Connector, the companies announcement Tuesday.

The Health Benefits Connector helps connect Amazon customers with digital health solutions covered by employers. When customers search for nutrition-related products on Amazon, the company will promote Berry Street’s services. Amazon can also verify whether the customer’s insurance plan covers the digital health program using details such as their last name, date of birth, employer name, and insurance company.

“Health Benefits Connector is designed to help customers find, understand and use care already covered by their employer or insurer,” John Singerling, head of strategic growth and network development for Amazon Health Services, said in a statement. “Berry Street brings deep clinical expertise across a wide range of conditions that can be managed with nutritional therapy and we are excited to help connect more clients to this care.”

With Rue des Baiespatients can access a network of 1,500 registered dietitians, who can provide nutritional therapies for weight loss, diabetes, prediabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease and maternal health. Patients meet virtually with their dietitian and can also text their dietitian between visits.

Additionally, Berry Street allows patients to track their meals with an AI scanner and connect data from wearables and labs. The company soon plans to also offer GLP-1 labs and prescriptions.

This partnership is part of the framework 40% of American adults fight against obesity. Although nearly two-thirds of Americans are eligible for nutrition care covered by insurance, very few actually use it, according to Noah Kotlove, founder and CEO of Berry Street.

“By joining Health Benefits Connector, more people will have access to Berry Street’s personalized, evidence-based approach that empowers patients to adopt sustainable eating habits, leading to better outcomes and lasting improvements in their health,” Kotlove told MedCity News. “Amazon reaches millions of patients, helping to close the discovery gap for world-class nutritional therapy by highlighting the benefits patients are already experiencing. »

Ultimately, Berry Street aims to ensure nutritional therapy is “in everyone’s pocket,” and joining the Health Benefits Connector brings the company closer to that goal, Kotlove added.

Amazon’s Health Benefits Connector has grown rapidly over the past two years and provides access to several other digital health solutionsincluding another nutrition company, Fay. Additionally, it connects people with Talkspace and Rula for mental health, Omada and Teladoc for diabetes care, Hinge Health for musculoskeletal care, Progyny for pregnancy support, and Dreem Health for sleep care.
