Gavin Rossdale reveals what it was really like to live next to Britney Spears. During an interview in April 2026, the Bush musician called the “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer a “real character” and reflected on an experience when she came swimming together.
Gavin Rossdale remembers swimming with Britney Spears

In an April 7 interview with Sirius XM’s Page six Radio, Rossdale reflected on a time when he went swimming with Spears, something the “Toxic” singer previously talked about a few years ago.
“Of course,” he replied. “How could you forget that?” He then described how they were neighbors and that she “got along really well” with him and his children.
“Well, we were neighbors. And so she came, I think, when the kids were little, and she was a real character,” he recalled.
He then praised the pop star, calling her “lovely” and “amazing.” He also called her a “great swimmer.”
Gavin Rossdale’s kids were big fans of Britney Spears
The hosts asked if Rossdale’s children — Kingston, now 19, Zuma, now 17, and Apollo, now 12 — got along well with Spears’ two sons: Sean Preston, now 20, and Jayden James, now 19.
However, he revealed they were all “too busy chatting with Britney.”
He also spoke about his parenting style, revealing that it was important to him not to raise “assholes.”
“That’s all I was thinking about, without imposing any doctrine on them. Not too many safeguards,” he explained. “Just be there and make sure they’re cool, nice, nice and kind of interested in other people. And not obsessed with themselves.”
Rossdale continued, “Just try to look up at the world and see it…I just wanted them to be good people, and they are.”
Gavin Rossdale Reflects on Co-Parenting With Gwen Stefani
Rossdale and Gwen Stefani separated in 2015. She later got married Blake Shelton in 2021, adding another dynamic to their co-parenting relationship.
“It’s an interesting kind of [relationship]”Rossdale told Fox News Digital in March. “It’s a two-lane highway, you know, but they never seem to merge, which is nice.”
“[She’s] she’s probably doing her best, and I’m doing my best,” he continued. “And the kids are growing up, so I’m a proud supporter of the system.”
Britney Spears spends time with her sons on a yacht
Meanwhile, Britney Spears reconnected with her two sons following the end of her controversial 13-year conservatorship, which lasted from February 2008 to November 2021, when it was finally overturned by a judge.
On March 30, the “Gimme More” singer shared several photos and videos on Instagram of herself on a yacht with her two sons, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline.
“I’m flying, I’m flying, Jack – I better stay present whenever I can,” Britney wrote in the caption, apparently making a reference to the “Titanic.”
She then added, “I better stay present whenever I can. I should disappear because of how slow they went on that boat…I can still dream, folks!!! PS…it’s been five years, just saying!” Many fans believe his PS was about the end of his conservatorship.
Britney’s sons will ‘spend time with her’ after drunk driving arrest
On Thursday, March 4, the “Criminal” singer was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving while driving near her home in Ventura, California. At the time, a rep revealed that her sons would be spending more time with her following her arrest.
“Her boys will spend time with her. Her loved ones will come up with an overdue plan to set her up for health success,” the rep said.
The California Highway Patrol said the pop princess “drove erratically at a high rate of speed…showed signs of impairment and submitted to a series of field sobriety tests” and “was subsequently arrested for a violation of California Vehicle Code Section 23152(g), driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol.”
Her rep called it an “unfortunate and completely inexcusable incident” but added: “Britney will take the right steps and comply with the law and I hope this can be the first step in a long overdue change that needs to happen in Britney’s life. Let’s hope she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”
