Three people were killed and several others injured after a driver crashed into several cars and pedestrians Saturday evening in Oakland, California, authorities said.
The accident happened shortly after 11 p.m., according to authorities.
Three people were pronounced dead at the scene and five others were injured, the Oakland Fire Department said. Two of the injured were in critical condition. The driver involved in the crash was also injured, although authorities described the injuries as minor.
Authorities did not immediately release additional details about what caused the crash, and the identity of the driver was not made public.
The crash remains under investigation, authorities said.
