Actress Scarlett Johansson I had nice things to say about Adam Piloteand now it seems he’s returning the favor! The ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ actress first worked with the ‘Star Wars’ actor on ‘Marriage Story’ in 2019 before teaming up with him again on ‘Paper Tiger’ in 2026. The comments follow Lena Dunham and her 2026 memoir “Famesick,” in which she alleged the actor threw a chair in her direction after forgetting her lines and yelling in her face while filming the hit HBO comedy “Girls.”

In 2019’s “Marriage Story,” Johansson starred alongside Driver in Noah Baumbach’s acclaimed drama that follows two parents going through a tumultuous custody battle in the midst of their divorce. In September 2025, she told PEOPLE magazine that it was “awesome” working with the “Paterson” actor.

“I love Adam as a person and he’s an absolutely amazing actor,” she said at the time. “If I could do every movie with Adam Driver, I would.”

In 2019, it opened to As if magazine about how some of their scenes were “brutal” to film. “We spent two whole days yelling at each other and yelling brutally and fighting for two whole days,” she shared at the time.

“It was exhausting, but if I didn’t have such a strong actor like Adam to take everything I gave him, I would have been lost,” she added. “For me, working with other actors is a very important part of what I do…that’s it.”

In “Paper Tiger”, she is not married to Driver, but the two shared a few scenes together. “I would have loved to have had more scenes with him, I love working with him,” she told The Hollywood Reporter before the film’s premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last week.

When speaking to Collider about his relationship with his “Paper Tiger” costars, Driver praised Miles Tellerwho is married to Scarlett Johansson’s character in this film, as “very generous and prepared.”

“Scarlett, who I had worked with before, we immediately had a history and a familiarity that we didn’t need to work on,” he continued. “And honestly, it wasn’t a big thing to work out with Miles. He was very open about how he related to the script, and so was I.”

He then discussed their working relationship on “Marriage Story,” which he described as a “difficult shoot” due to their intense arguing scenes.

“We had very intimate moments Marriage story – on set, to be clear. It was a difficult shoot, and a lot of people were very generous during the filming,” he explained. “So I immediately felt familiar with Scarlett. She’s awesome.

“She’s another actress where she’s not just thinking about her character, she’s thinking about the culture on set and making sure the whole system works,” he continued. “She’s generous, she’s prepared, she’s great, she’s great to work with.”

While filming “Girls,” Dunham alleged that Driver could be “verbally aggressive” toward her and once even “threw a chair at the wall” next to her when she forgot her lines.

“I remember doing a fight scene with Adam and how scary it was to meet someone so totally present with such absence,” Dunham wrote. “Late that night, while we were rehearsing our lines in my trailer, I discovered that mine had suddenly disappeared. I knew I had written them. I had only known them a few minutes before. But when I opened my mouth, all that came out was a stutter – until finally Adam shouted ‘Fuck, say something’ and threw a chair at the wall next to me. ‘Wake up,’ he told me. ‘I’m tired of looking at you.’

While promoting “Paper Tiger” at the Cannes Film Festival, Driver was asked if her allegations were true. “I have no comment on any of this,” he said, according to Deadline. “I’m saving all that for my book.”
