Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has been announced, and it will feature a new campaign that returns to the “grounded” roots the series is best known for.
In case you missed it, Activision and Infinity Ward have confirmed that the upcoming mainline game Call of Duty The game launches on October 23 for current-generation consoles, including Nintendo Switch 2.
At launch, the game will feature multiplayer and DMZ with all-new maps, as well as a full campaign that will “return to the series’ roots with dark, realistic storytelling, cinematic settings, and immersive gameplay moments” that “feel both a blockbuster in its scale and grounded in its authenticity.”
“A full-scale invasion breaks out in a new theater of war, on the Korean Peninsula, triggering a rapidly escalating crisis unlike anything the franchise has faced before,” teases the studio.
“In a high-stakes, ripped-from-the-headlines story of unprecedented scale, a volatile mix of political tensions, shadow operations and outside interference that pushes the world to the brink of war, Private Park, a young Korean soldier, is thrust into combat for the first time, as he and his team are forced to overcome impossible odds on a gripping journey from zero to hero.”
In addition to this, Modern Warfare 4 will once again see the return of fan-favorite character Captain John Price, who will form an alliance of rogues operating outside of the system and independent of his team, Task Force 141. Price has been a central character in every mainline. Modern warfare entry, but it is not confirmed if other members of his team will make an appearance in the next match.
Players will take on missions across the globe and encounter varied combat scenarios, from trench warfare in Korea to close-quarters battles in New York, high-speed chases across Paris, SAS night raids in Mumbai, and city-wide assaults to reclaim territory.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 “will mark a new chapter for the studio” and will ignore the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
