Finding God in Darkness – Determined Faith

What if…

What happens when…?

Will everything be okay…?

I couldn’t ignore the fact that this family member was particularly worried. I couldn’t blame them. I’ve definitely been there before…

Will it be okay?

Will I make it?

How is all this going to happen?

My friend, maybe you are here today. There may be things that seem impossible, improbable, or intentionally opposed to you. We all have times when we feel like we are hitting an unshakable mountain. I understand. I understand the feelings. I know the quagmire. In many ways, I can understand the fear.

At the same time, I know what God says: Do not be afraid.

Some may say that this is a command from God, and while that is true, I also believe that it reveals the heart of God: we will trust Him. That we believe that His heart toward us is good and His intentions toward us are good. Even more so when it comes to His work in our lives, He is capable of it.

It’s easy to say in theory, “Don’t worry. Trust God. Do it.”

But what does this actually look like? In reality? When the rubber meets the road?

I asked God about this the other morning while I was sitting outside looking at the wide open sky. There I thought that if you look for an animal in the clouds, you will find one.

What you are looking for, you will find it.

What you are looking for, you will see.

If I look for an animal shape in the clouds, I will see one.

If I look for areas of concern, I will find them.

If I look for the worst case scenario, I’ll see it.

“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7 KJV)

What if, instead of looking for dark things, we looked for sunny things? Namely the Son.

What is God doing?

What does God say?

How does God move?

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things. » (Philippians 4:8)

God does good things. There is a sun somewhere in this dark sky. Even though it is hidden behind the clouds, it is still there.

Find it.
