Christian Eriksen is conscious after collapsing again on the pitch while playing for the Danish national team, the Danish Football Association announced on Sunday. Television footage showed Erikson, 34, clutching his chest with both hands in the 65th minute of Denmark’s international friendly match against Ukraine at Nature Energy Park in Odense. In the next television image, Erikson was on the ground, surrounded by players. The match was then abandoned. “Christian Eriksen is conscious and, given the circumstances, he is doing well,” the federation said in a message on X. “The match is canceled.” Eriksen collapsed due to cardiac arrest during Denmark’s opening match of the 2021 European Championship, against Finland in Copenhagen, and received lengthy medical treatment before regaining consciousness. Neither Denmark nor Ukraine qualified for the World Cup. Associated Press reporting.
