With SpaceX poised to break records with an IPO on Friday, Anthropic poised to break records with its IPO underway, and OpenAI Race to Match or Surpass Rivals With its own potentially record-breaking IPO, the tech industry will soon have a new set of public company overlords.
If all these IPOs go as planned, these companies will replace the vicious sounding companies. CATCH cabal – Facebook (now Meta), Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Google (now Alphabet) – with the deliciously sweet-sounding (although truly sour and atrocious if eaten unripe) MANGOS coterie: Meta, Anthropic, Nvidia, Google, OpenAI, SpaceX.
As these companies scale, so will the entire tech industry, or so one might think starting in the summer of 2026.
The new acronym was proposed by the developer @krishdotdev And @lilscoot on X and is now going viral.
Of course, FAANG isn’t exactly dead — Amazon and Netflix remain strong — but Amazon’s streaming services and e-commerce business, if not its cloud, are perhaps less revolutionary these days than the AI and agent companies that the tech industry is poised to crown.
To this we say: Farewell to the FAANG! Long live MANGOES!
(At least if they prove to be the nourishing foundation of a healthy economy fueled by a coming era of autonomous AI, and don’t usher in a nasty future where we all end up jobless and broke.)
