7:11 p.m. (Pacific Time) – Mayor Karen Bass released the following statement after the footage was released… “What I saw on the body camera footage is disturbing and tragic. The Chief and I agreed that it was important to quickly release the body camera footage. While the investigation is ongoing, I am very concerned about why shots were fired and Jameson was killed. This shooting clearly shows that while the LAPD provides officers with written guidelines on the use of force and pets, that’s not enough.”

She added… “I have asked the Chairman and Chief of the Police Commission to review the Department’s use of force policy regarding dog encounters to determine best practices from across the country, and to use this opportunity to update the LAPD’s overall tactics, policies and training related to the use of deadly force to increase the safety of all – officers, Angelenos and their pets.”

Police officer fired not once, but four times in controversial fatal Canoga Park dog shooting JamesonSATURDAY.

The LAPD just released body camera footage of the officer who killed Marie-MarseilleThe golden retriever, the Saint Bernard and the poodle mix together… and it’s hard to watch.

When the police first approach Marie’s apartment, she opens the door… and Jameson sticks his head out and barks.

The officer wearing the body camera – visibly frightened by the puppy’s size – begins yelling at him to put him away, adding… “F***.”

When another cop comments on Jameson’s size, you can hear the officer on the body camera say… “I won’t let that bite me, bro.”

When Marie opens the door again and walks out, she apologizes and tells the cops that Jameson isn’t being aggressive.

At the same time, Jameson walks past her and out into the hallway. He barks and runs towards the officer on bodycam, who shoots him several times.

You can hear Jameson screaming after the first shot…but the officer continues shooting, as Marie screams in horror.

The traumatic incident occurred after a neighbor called the cops for a wellness check on a screaming woman — Marie — who was simply celebrating the Knicks’ NBA championship victory.

LAPD Captain Mike Bland says the department will investigate the shooting over the “next few months.” He says the Office of Inspector General is currently conducting an additional, independent review of the investigation.
