Shohei Ohtani I missed the Dodgers game because my baby was born!

Los Angeles Dodgers Star Shohei Ohtani is the father of 2 children!
The superstar pitcher and hitter announced early Saturday morning that he and his wife, Mamiko Tanakawelcomed their second baby together. He shared an Instagram post showing a baby dressed in blue, cradled in a matching blue blanket…but didn’t explicitly reveal the name or gender of his little one.
He wrote that he and Mamiko were “delighted” with the birth of their child and thanked everyone who supported their parenthood journey.
The couple welcomed a daughter, whose name has never been shared publicly, in April 2025.
Fans noticed Friday night that Ohtani was not included in the lineup for the Los Angeles Dodgers’ game against the Baltimore Orioles. The schedule was published – 2 hours late, according to MLB.com – and there was speculation that he may have been suffering from inflammation in his left knee and a blister on his right hand that he has been suffering from recently.
But the Dodgers later announcement he was “away from the team due to paternity reasons” and that he “is expected to return at some point this weekend”.
The Dodgers play the Orioles on Saturday and Sunday…so we’ll have to wait and see if Ohtani makes it.
For now, we wish him a huge congratulations!
