A GoFundMe for a years-old street vendor has surpassed the $100,000 mark and continues to climb after the vendor was brutally beaten in a horrific attack.
A video first shared online on Sunday shows a nasty fight that broke out between the seller, Arabelia Martinezand an unknown woman on the premiere stand in Los Angeles. The video shows a heated argument that escalates as the woman pours hot sauce on Martinez’s hot dogs, prompting Martinez to throw red powder at the woman.
They then got physical…the woman throwing punches to the back of Martinez’s head as people rushed to break them up. Martinez manages to escape momentarily, but the woman charges at her again, delivering a barrage of blows to her head and face… before dragging her to the ground with her hair.
The LAPD is investigating the incident… but has not made any contact with the woman in question.
Meanwhile, Martinez’s son, Constantino Garciadescribed it on the GoFundMe page – which currently stands at over $117,000 – as someone who “dedicates himself to his job every day, rain or shine, to provide for” his family. He says the donated funds will go toward “therapy and professional support” to help him recover physically and emotionally, as well as replace items damaged in the chaotic incident.
