The actor’s financial and housing issues initially came to light in December 2025
According to PEOPLE, a complaint was filed against Rourke on December 29, 2025 for ignoring the December 18 notice requiring him to pay $60,000 in back rent to his landlord, Eric Goldie. He had three days to pay the amount he owed or be evicted from the property.
When he moved into the property in March 2025, the rent was reportedly $5,200 per month, but it later increased to $7,000 per month, according to documents obtained by the outlet.
In addition to the unpaid rent, Rourke’s former landlord also requested payment of his legal fees and forfeiture of the rental agreement between the two parties.

Shortly after his manager took action on his behalf, Mickey Rourke denounced his fundraising efforts
In an exclusive interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Rourke’s longtime manager Kimberly Hines explained the details of the GoFundMe launch and why she believes he publicly denounced the fundraiser.
“We were shocked that the GoFundMe took off. We were like, ‘Let’s do this little GoFundMe thing. We’ll see what happens. This will help Mickey.” And Dima, his assistant, and I were like, ‘That’s good. This will help Mickey,'” Hines recalls.
“We said, ‘Mickey, there are people who want to help you.’ He says, “Okay, great. “I don’t think he understood, and now, in the face of this media frenzy, he’s lost his temper,” she added. “And now it looks bad to us. Nobody’s trying to scam Mickey. I want him to work. I don’t want him to do a GoFundMe.”

“The GoFundMe was set up for Mickey. It’s not going to be for me. And if Mickey doesn’t want the money now and decides, ‘I don’t want the help, it’s like it’s charity, the money will be returned,'” Hines told the outlet.
Rourke reportedly turned down multiple job offers after his financial problems made headlines
On January 10, Hines said Rourke had turned down several movie roles since news of his eviction went viral because he thought the payment was too low, according to TMZ.
Just days after the eviction and GoFundMe spread online, Hines said Rourke had received six offers, but was waiting for offers and payments for high-profile films.
The actor only wants to appear in productions that earn him a minimum of $200,000 per day, which Rourke estimates he’s worth, given his long career in Hollywood.
