Taylor Swift’s wedding: New York steps up outreach to homeless people around MSG

Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce‘S wedding all eyes are on Madison Square Garden…and city officials are keeping an eye on everything around it…including the people living on the streets.

A New York official with direct knowledge tells TMZ … that the Department of Homeless Services will deploy a “significant force” around the MSG and Penn Station area from July 2-4, sending many more outreach workers than usual to the neighborhood.

We are told that this increased presence is not intended to clear the area for Taylor and Travis Kelcethe wedding festivities. Instead, it’s due to the dangerous heat expected to blanket New York… with temperatures expected to climb into the 90s — and possibly reach 100 degrees.

The Penn Station corridor is one of the city’s largest homeless hubs, and officials are particularly concerned about the hours between noon and 8 p.m., when the heat will be at its peak and wedding activities around MSG will be at their busiest.

Approximately 200 two-person outreach teams will be spread out across the city…with a major focus on the city blocks surrounding MSG. Their job is to warn unhoused people about the city’s “Code Red” heat emergency and encourage them to head to shelters or cooling centers.

If someone refuses, outreach workers cannot force them to move. Instead, they will continue to offer alternatives, including spending time inside nearby Penn Station to escape the sweltering temperatures.
