Eight people shot on Coney Island, including four children, New York police say

At least eight people, including four children, were shot Saturday night in Coney Island, Brooklyn, leaving one woman in critical condition.

Officers responded to reports of multiple people shot around 10:37 p.m., according to a New York Police Department statement. Upon arrival, eight victims with gunshot wounds were found at the scene and transported to nearby hospitals.

The victims are aged 6 to 37. Seven people are in stable condition, while a 21-year-old woman remains in critical condition after being shot in the chest, police said.

A 6-year-old boy was shot in the stomach, a 7-year-old boy was shot in both legs, a 12-year-old boy was shot in the leg and a 14-year-old boy was shot in the thigh, according to the release.

A firearm was recovered at the scene. No arrests have been made and investigators are actively seeking to identify any persons of interest, the release added.
