UK cuts VAT on energy bills ahead of first PM’s cabinet meeting

Britain’s new Prime Minister Andy Burnham has launched his plan to ease the cost of living for millions of Britons by planning to scrap taxes on household electricity bills. The VAT cut is aimed at reassuring markets ahead of his first cabinet meeting, with the new prime minister saying it will be financed by scrapping his predecessor’s digital ID system.
