As Vivienne joins the list of Jolie-Pitt children who have legally severed ties with Brad Pitt, many have taken to social media to accuse Angelina Jolie of turning the actor’s children against him since their divorce.
However, sources close to the family shared with Page six that the actress left the drama and stopped “fighting”.
“Angie didn’t fight and isn’t angry. She just wants everyone to heal,” a source told the outlet.
The source added: “If people knew the whole truth, they would have more sympathy for the children and respect them. The fact that they don’t speak ill or share things publicly only shows their decency.”
The reason Brad Pitt’s daughter asked for a name change
Vivienne filed paperwork for her name change on July 20 in a Los Angeles Superior Court, requesting that she now wishes to be legally known as Vivienne Marcheline Jolie instead of Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt.
The 18-year-old twin and one of Pitt’s three biological children gave few details about her decision to drop her father’s last name, simply calling her decision “personal.”
Vivienne’s name change is the latest twist in a family divide that has seen several other Jolie-Pitt children publicly sever ties with their father.
The former Hollywood power couple share a total of six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and teenage twins Knox and Vivienne.
Shiloh started the legal trend by filing court papers on May 27, 2024, the day she turned 18. More recently, his siblings Maddox and Zahara took similar steps, leaving Pax and Knox as the only children who have not officially changed their last name.
Knox, however, hinted at a similar change from his father’s last name. At his high school graduation ceremony, the teen reportedly chose to omit Pitt’s last name altogether, simply listing his name as “Knox Jolie” on his official diploma.
As for Pax, he is said to simply go by “Pax Jolie” professionally.

Regarding how Pitt feels about his children dropping his name, a source previously said Us every week that the actor was disheartened and privately struggling with the news.

The actor reportedly has no contact with children and was even called out once by his son Pax in a now-deleted Father’s Day post, where he was called a “horrible” person.
