Insufficient drainage holes can prevent water from draining properly, increasing the risk of accidents. Jaguar Land Rover recalls more than 15,000 vehicles for a problem that could affect the rearview camera, which could limit the driver’s rear visibility when reversing, according to federal regulators.
In total, 15,535 vehicles are potentially affected by the recallcovering 2021-2025 Land Rover Discovery models, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said in its recall notice.
NHTSA said “insufficient drainage holes” could prevent water from draining properly, damaging the backup camera and increasing the risk of a crash.

“Water may not be able to drain from the backup camera due to insufficient drainage holes, which could damage the backup camera,” the agency said.
“A camera damaged by water may not display an image, or may display an unclear image, when requested to do so,” the advisory states.
Jaguar Land Rover has received 100 complaints and field reports in the United States related to this issue. No accidents, injuries or fires have been reported.

Car owners are encouraged to take their vehicle to a dealership for inspection, where the camera will be replaced free of charge if necessary.
Dealers will also drill additional drainage holes under the tailgate trim.

Notification letters to property owners should be mailed no later than September 11.
