A hair donation drive was organised on Monday at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER) to support cancer patients who lose their hair during treatment. The National Service Scheme unit of SRIHER, in association with Ladies Circle India, Hair for Hope India, and the Adyar Cancer Institute, organised the event, aiming to collect hair from 800 donors in an attempt to set a world record.

Film producer and director Soundarya Rajinikanth inaugurated the drive. She urged the media to raise awareness on the challenges faced by cancer patients and the impact of hair loss on their confidence. The donated hair will be used to make wigs for patients undergoing chemotherapy and other cancer treatments.

SRIHER Chancellor V.R. Venkatachalam, trustee Samyuktha Venkatachalam, dean K. Balaji Singh, and representatives of the partner organisations were among those present.
