Sitting in my driveway, I wondered: Could I hide in the car a little longer…?
I didn’t really know… But what I did know was that the consistency of the raindrops was soothing. And the lines running along the window were… intriguing.
I just wanted to sit there – and watch – the raindrops. At least they couldn’t hurt me. At least they were predictable. At least the car was a refuge of sorts from the torrents of life about to hit – the downpour.
I exhaled. Soon, and alone, I knew that I would have to brave the cold, the humidity, the elements, the problems, the future, the unknown, the pressure…
And no sooner had I faced all this than a flash of blue caught my attention on my left side. What was that?
My car door opened. The rain started to fall. A blue umbrella moved above us. My daughter stood there – a smile on her face – holding an umbrella for cover – to guide me inside.
And in that moment, my heart melted a little. Wow. I was not alone. I wasn’t doing it alone. I have not been invisible or left out in my position.
The second my daughter spread that blanket, I realized that God was also spreading the same blanket over me.
God is my covering against all rain. Of all the elements of life. To be left out in the cold. To be invisible. To hurt myself.
God is my protective umbrella. God sees me and protects me. He does this for you too…
Psalm 91:4 – “He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy buckler and shield.” »
Psalm 121:7 – “The LORD will preserve you from all evil: he will preserve your soul. »
My friend, wherever you are today… even if you feel left out, all alone… Whatever problems seem insurmountable… Or, whenever you can’t handle what lies ahead…
My friend? Just as my daughter saw me alone in the car, God sees you too. He sees you there – waiting for him, hoping, maybe even screaming. He does not leave you defenseless or unprotected; He comes to you. He protects you. He preserves you. He has you covered. He picks you up as you follow him.
My dear ? Let Him carry you through, as you surrender to Him and His safe covering. He will never cheat on you.
