Allison Williams Plays Coy About ‘Girl’ Reunion Amid Lena Dunham and Adam Driver Drama

Actress Allison Williams plays coy on the possibility of a “Girls” reunion a few weeks after her co-star Lena Dunham made accusations against Adam Pilote in his new memoir, “Famesick.” The showrunner, director and star claimed the “Star Wars” actor yelled in her face, threw a chair at the wall when she forgot her lines and even once punched a hole in the wall of his trailer. Although Driver made “no comment” when interviewed at the Cannes Film Festival, Dunham admitted in her tell-all book that she hasn’t spoken to the actor since “Girls” ended. The HBO comedy ran from 2012 to 2017.

Allison Williams reunited with her father, Brian Williams, in an episode of her podcast, “We’re Back! With Brian Williams!” In a clip shared exclusively with PEOPLE magazine ahead of the episode’s official release, Brian asks his daughter, “Are we going to see the ‘Girls’ reunite?”

“Oh my God, I would love that. The answer is, I hope so,” Allison replied. “I’ll be there if they call. I’m absolutely here.”

The series followed Hannah Horvath (Lena Dunham), Marnie Michaels (Williams), Jessa Johansson (Jemima Kirke), and Shoshanna Shapiro (Zosia Mamet) as they navigated their lives in New York. Adam Driver played Adam Sackler in the series. Although he was initially a crush on Dunham’s Hannah, he ended up with Jessa in the series finale.

Williams says ‘girls’ reunion is ‘more likely’ now

Williams went on to say that it’s “more likely” that a “Girls” reunion will happen now, given that the characters are much older than they were in the original series.

“It becomes more and more likely with each passing year, because it would become more and more interesting to check in with everyone, because this year I turned 40. Lena just turned 40,” she explained. “We’re in a new stage of life. I’d be so curious to reunite with everyone. It would be so much fun to get the gang together again.”

Pressed by her father, Williams admitted, “You know things you’re not supposed to know,” then doubled down by saying, “I’m not telling you anything.” I don’t say a word. »

This isn’t the first time Allison Williams has talked about ‘girls’

Allison Williams says she needs to read Lena Dunham’s memoir before “saying anything” about her accusations about Adam Driver’s behavior on the set of ‘Girls.’

She briefly discussed the feud between Adam Driver and Lena Dunham with Variety earlier this year, saying she “couldn’t say anything” about the accusations. Despite this, she admitted that she has a “permanent bond” with Dunham and that the two “love each other.”

Before that, in an interview with the Guardian in January 2023, Williams admitted that it would be much more difficult to create “Girls” today.

“I was thinking recently, if I was chosen Girls now what would the experience be like for me and I think it would be a lot more stressful,” she admitted. “I didn’t know anything else.”

“I was 22 when I was cast on the show, I was 23 when it came out. We were so young and it was loud in terms of the water cooler and the think pieces and Gawker was like obsessed with us and it was the height of that stuff, but I had no idea how to calibrate the actual size of it all,” she continued.

Williams compares Lena Dunham’s writing to Taylor Swift

She then compared the writings of Lena Dunham with those of pop star Taylor Swift. Interestingly enough, the two are close friends. Dunham appeared in the singer’s “Bad Blood” music video in 2014. Most recently, Swift made an appearance at Dunham’s 40th birthday dinner in New York.

“It also diminished our skills,” Williams told the Guardian at the time. “I saw that Taylor Swift was giving an interview recently where she said that people treated her music like it was a gimmick, like there was no skill involved. And as one of the great living songwriters, I don’t know how that’s possible, but I know that’s how it felt, probably for Lena, too, that people thought it was just an accident that she wrote these episodes or something.”

Adam Driver “keeps everything for my book”

At the Cannes Film Festival, Driver was asked about allegations Dunham made about her in her memoir. He joked: “I have no comment on any of that,” before adding: “I’m saving all that for my book.” »

In one section of her book, she alleged that he was “verbally aggressive” towards her and that he “threw a chair at the wall” next to her when she forgot her lines.

“Late at night, while we were rehearsing our lines in my trailer, I discovered that mine had suddenly disappeared. I knew I had written them. I only knew them minutes before,” she wrote. “But when I opened my mouth, all that came out was a stutter – until finally Adam shouted, ‘Fuck, say something’ and threw a chair at the wall next to me. ‘Wake up,’ he told me. ‘I’m sick of you just staring.'”

She also alleged that they almost crossed a boundary in their relationship before Driver proposed to his wife, Joanne Tucker.
