For days, details surrounding the marriage between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce remained hidden behind a veil of mystery. But now that the lovers’ marriage has been officially confirmed by their camp, guests are talking about the event.
Guests, including musicians, directors and more, began sharing their thoughts on the nuptials on social media. Two people in attendance at the star-studded bash exclusively shared with NBC News the details of how the extraordinary July 3 evening at New York’s Madison Square Garden went down — and it certainly sounds as fantastic as many predicted.
The entire wedding, guests said, was a “pinch-me-up moment.”
So far, little about the ceremony has been publicly revealed by the couple themselves. Representatives for the couple said in a statement sent to NBC News that the nuptials were celebrated by friend and comedian Adam Sandler. The couple also chose not to have a traditional wedding party, the release said. Instead, the musician’s brother, Austin Swift, served as the “man of honor,” while Kelce’s brother, Jason Kelce, served as best man.
According to the two people who spoke to NBC News, guests first entered the room and walked through a tunnel containing photos of Swift and Kelce over the years, from their childhood to their relationship together. Afterwards, guests entered what was the couple’s “secret garden,” both people said.
The ceremony itself, added the two guests, was particularly moving. According to the couple’s rep’s statement, Swift and Kelce wore looks created by fashion house Christian Dior Haute Couture. Both guests mentioned that the bride and groom wore white.
Swift and Kelce personally wrote their own vows, both guests said. Swift’s vows featured a bit of her singing. And the exchange between the couple brought tears from the crowd, both participants said.
“You would think the bride would be the one crying the most, but it was actually Travis who was the most emotional,” one attendee said.
The magic didn’t stop there. The reception was unforgettable, with performances by Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks, both guests said. Although Swift didn’t perform at the wedding, she did at the rehearsal dinner the night before with Kelce as the couple sang their favorite rock song together, both attendees added.
The two guests also shared other details, raving about the food served that evening, from the couple’s favorite New York restaurants. A standout aspect of the wedding was the games attendees were invited to play, both guests said. Through the games, people could win tickets to enter into a drawing. The two explained that the raffle items — which included several designer bags — also included a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, the legendary car the couple drove together on their first date. It is unclear who ultimately won the prizes.
Famous attendees — including Tom Hanks and Jennifer Lopez, according to both guests — also began sharing snippets of the night they’ll remember. Singer Fergiehockey legend Wayne Gretzky, actress-singer Selena Gomez and others shared their “Tayvis” wedding day outfits.
Director Joseph Kahn, who socialized with fellow director Steven Spielberg and actress Kate Capshaw, said he had a “wonderful time”.
“What I will say about the wedding is that it was much funnier and more emotional than I expected, and as important as it was, it was also very intimate,” Kahn wrote in a statement. Instagram post. “I wish your beautiful family and future family endless happiness!”
In a July 4 article about country star X Kelsea Ballerini described the event as “the most beautiful wedding,” adding that she “always cries and dances.”
Sportscaster Rich Eisen, who was in attendance with his wife and fellow sportscaster Suzy Shuster, also praised the wedding.
“The storybook does not do justice to the expression of love we have witnessed,” Eisen wrote in a Instagram post.
And actress Niecy Nash, who attended the nuptials with her wife, musician Jessica Betts, had one word to sum up the event of the year.
“Wowwwwwww‼️ is the best way to describe it” Nash wrote on social media. “From start to finish, no detail was spared! Congratulations!”
