The Miami Hurricanes are one win away from adding a sixth national championship to their record…and Jeremy Shockey — who won one in 2001 — spoke with TMZ Sports on what he would say to the players before the biggest night of their lives.
“Try to be like a horse with blinders on,” Shockey said. “Distractions are going to happen, it’s a big week.”

The 45-year-old said the team had already weathered the storm of the season, noting the Hurricanes had played three high-stakes playoff games to get to this point.
“Silence the distractions,” he says. “Tickets, here’s the family, and go play their style of football.”
He also said it was great to see guys like Michael Irvin And Ray Lewis on the sidelines, supporting his alma mater during this run…reminding him of the days when former players would take the field to support him when he was there.
“All we can do is show our support, go back and see these guys,” Shockey said.

When we asked him for his prediction, we won’t be surprised to find out who he thinks will lift the CFP trophy by the end of the night.
“Indiana does a really good job of balance,” he said. “They’re on passive defense, so they’re not fighting. I think about 28-21, you know, we win by a touchdown, maybe 10 points.”
