“Star Wars” fans may be eager to watch the Super Bowl to see the Seattle Seahawks take on the New England Patriots, but others are hoping to get another glimpse of a galaxy far, far away. There is speculation that “The Mandalorian & Grogu” will receive a full trailer to give viewers a better idea of what to expect from the film. The last “Star Wars” film to hit theaters was “The Rise of Skywalker” in 2019, which concluded the Skywalker saga in 9 episodes.

Will ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ Get a Trailer During the Super Bowl?

A trailer was released in late 2025, but it seems more likely that a trailer for “The Mandalorian & Grogu” will be released during the Super Bowl to build hype for the film and give fans a better idea of the plot. This wouldn’t be the first time a “Star Wars” movie received a commercial during the Super Bowl, as “Solo: A Star Wars Story” did a few years ago, so there is precedent.

It was the last “Star Wars” movie to be released in May, and although it blew up at the box office, Disney is hoping “The Mandalorian & Grogu” will do better. The film is based on the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian,” which stars Pierre Pascal as the main character and Baby Yoda/Grogu as a companion. Although many fans want to see them both on the big screen, the creator Jon Favreau also looking to add some star power to the cast with ‘The Bear’ star Jeremy Allen White and the star of “Alien” Sigourney Weaver.

Sigourney Weaver reveals what she loves about ‘Star Wars’
While speaking at New York Comic-Con’s “Alien and Beyond” panel in October 2025, the “Aliens” actress opened up about her role as Colonel Ward in the 2026 “Star Wars” film. He’s a brand new character who has yet to appear in the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian.” During the panel, she revealed that Favreau contacted her directly about the role, which prompted her to start watching the series.
“Of course I was amazed by it and fell in love with it, and Pedro [Pascal] and Grogu,” Weaver said, according to PEOPLE review. “Also, I like the way Star Wars the universe did it – it’s not trying to pay for every movie with all the delay in movies. They are now individual stories set in the same universe.

Jeremy Allen White talks about his ‘Star Wars’ debut
In an interview with Variety, Jeremy Allen White also spoke about his experience in a galaxy far, far away. He revealed that he first met Favreau at a party, where he was approached for the role.
“I’ve been a fan of Jon Favreau for a very long time,” he explained. “We met at a party. I told him that, and he said, ‘I have something I want to talk to you about. Can I call you?'”
This then led to a conversation about the series. “I said, ‘This is a great show. You’re doing a great job. I’ve known Pedro Pascal for a while, and he’s great and having fun on it, and he loves you,'” he recalls. “He said to me, ‘I want you to be in it.'”

Jeremy Allen White had never done voiceover work before
That’s when they started talking about his character, Rotta the Hutt. “And then he started explaining it and talking about Rotta. I had never done voice work,” White explained. “There’s no stop-motion work or anything physical like that.”
However, his voice might not be immediately recognizable to fans. “I did a little bit of vocals, but I think Jon ended up tweaking it a little bit as well,” he said. “It was maybe a year ago. I did a few sessions. I didn’t see anything.”
However, he can’t wait to show the film to his daughters. “I was excited about doing work in this world of Star Warsa world that I’ve admired for a very long time,” he said. “I was also excited to make the film that my daughters can go see.”
Will ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ Get a Super Bowl Commercial?
It seems highly likely that the film will be advertised during the Super Bowl. Not only is this the first “Star Wars” movie since 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker,” but season 3 of “The Mandalorian” hasn’t exactly been well-received by fans. The first trailer also appeared online, then faded away without much impact on pop culture. It will be interesting to see fan reaction to the new trailer…or lack thereof.
“The Mandalorian & Grogu” is scheduled to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.
