Following Spears’ sale of her iconic music catalog to publishing giant Primary Wave, sources have come forward to claim there was an underlying reason behind her decision to sell.

According to the Daily Maila source close to the star shared that her “heavy spending” was a major factor behind her decision, while another explained that a sad reality everyone will eventually face is that her music career could be over.

“Everyone needs to be realistic about Britney’s future, including herself, so selling her catalog was a wise decision because she’s not going to return to music,” the second source told the outlet.

Spears hasn’t released a full studio album since 2016 and hasn’t toured since 2017, fueling speculation that she’s done performing.

Even though she sold the rights to her catalog, her right to perform the hits she is known for remains intact.

According to the outlet, the singer can still take the stage and perform her songs, as she did during her four-year Las Vegas residency, “Britney: Piece of Me,” which ran from 2013 to 2017.

“Without her Vegas shows, she’s really suffering,” the first source said, according to the newspaper. Daily mail. “Those shows made her a fortune, but that unfortunately ended years ago. The best thing for her is to go back to Vegas to perform again and have a steady paycheck, but I don’t think she wants to work that hard.”

According to the second insider, Spears needs a proper source of income to maintain her lifestyle, like her industry peers, like Jennifer Lopez.

“That’s why we see people like JLo still doing stuff – to keep the money coming in,” the second source said, adding that the singer “isn’t making money filming in her living room every day.”

They continued, “Britney has a lot of money, but since she’s no longer making music, no longer touring, and no longer has a residency, only certain lucrative ventures come in, like her perfume line or her book.”

It remains to be seen if Spears will ever perform again, but in January she shared on social media that she “will never perform in the United States again” for “extremely sensitive reasons.”

Sharing a photo of herself next to a Yamaha piano, she captioned the post: “I’m sending this piano to my son this year!!! Interestingly enough, I’m dancing on IG to heal things in my body that people have no idea about. Yes, and it’s embarrassing sometimes… but I walked through fire to save my life.”

Meanwhile, she discussed the possibility of performing in other countries like the United Kingdom and Australia with her son, leaving many people speculating as to why she sidelined the United States.

“I will never perform in the US again for extremely sensitive reasons, but I hope to be sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair, in a bun, and playing with my son… in the UK and AUSTRALIA very soon,” she said.

Spears added, “He’s a huge star, and I’m so honored to be in his presence!!! God willing, little man!!!”
