Nintendo and Illumination held another Super Mario Galaxy movie Right before Mario Day tomorrow, and not only did we get a new trailer, but also a surprise appearance from the cast who all promoted the movie because that’s what you do when you promote a movie, I guess. And now we also know a few more people who are joining the team in the sequel.
Luiz Guzman plays Wart, Issa Rae voices the Honey Queen and… Donald Glover, Childish Gambino himself, plays Yoshi.
THE Community The actor and rapper didn’t make an appearance in the Direct like Chris Pratt, Charlie Day and others, but Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri made sure everyone knew he’s a big fan of Nintendo games. Super Mario Galaxy movie hits theaters on April 1 and this was the final trailer, but we’ll likely hear more casting news in the coming weeks as we still don’t know the voices behind Birdo and a few other characters.
Now that we know who voices Yoshi, I guess we’re about to have an absolute tidal wave of memes and edits of Yoshi with Glover’s rap lyrics. Be prepared for the internet to have a field day with this one. I’ll give you a head start: someone make an animation of Yoshi’s rap “Fire.”
