We spoke with several interior designers to get insight into the spring interior design trends they’re seeing and loving this season. It’s a dreamy mix of soft colors, trendy patterns, cozy textures and a touch of the unexpected. Read on to find out how to give your home a fresh start with this season’s latest interior trends.
Stripes and Vichy
One of the biggest decor trends of the year play with the models. Gingham and stripes are everywhere this spring, and Elizabeth Vergara, founder and CEO of Vergara Houses is happy to follow the trend. “This spring, I see gingham and stripes making a big comeback,” she shares. “I would incorporate these patterns into my home through table runners, pillowcases, and throws. I try to make small changes in my home so that they can easily be replaced once the season changes or the trend passes.”
The best part about patterns is that they work in any room. If your spring refresh takes place in the living room, try adding a few gingham cushions to the sofa. Want to freshen up the room? Add a new set of striped sheets to your bed. Are you hosting a spring dinner? Include gingham in your table decoration with patterned napkins or a tablecloth.

Spring flowers aren’t exactly revolutionary, but it really wouldn’t be the season without them. “Adding seasonal flowers such as tulips, daffodils and flowering branches in soft pastel shades or bright, cheerful tones can instantly brighten up your home and make it feel fresh,” Ashley Gallion, founder of Ashley Ayers Interiorssharing. “You can easily add playful spring accents to smaller accessories such as pillows or vases.”

Of course, a spring home refresh doesn’t require a full renovation, and swapping out accessories like pillows and throws is a perfect way to welcome the season. “A very simple change for spring is to replace your heavy winter blankets with lighter, spring-inspired throws with pretty floral patterns or light, bright throws,” Laura Medicus, interior designer and owner of Laura Medicus Interiorssaid. Outdated artwork and photos can detract from the mood, so take the time to check what you have displayed. “An easy way to freshen up your home for spring is to update your photos or framed art with the seasons,” Erin Greene, interior designer at Erin Greene Designsnote.
Take a look at your walls and notice if any frames need updating or artwork that needs a refresh. Winter generally lends itself to darker, moodier art, while spring lends itself to softer, lighter art. Choose photos and artwork that are reminiscent of spring. Sarah Goesling, owner and director, and Rebecca Goesling, design director at Goesling Groupknow a thing or two about spring’s trending colors. “For spring, we love pops of color like citrus or spicy orange, whether it’s saturating the entire room with a fresh coat of paint or adding an unexpected moment to the ceiling,” they share. “Our tip for ceilings is to try a bolder contrast in a smaller space for a bit of drama. Ceilings are a great way to experiment with color if you’re not yet ready to fully commit to walls.”
Even if you’re not ready to pick up a paintbrush this season, adding pops of color through accents and decor is a great way to sprinkle some fresh energy into your space. “Other color ideas we like are creamy apricot, asparagus green, bubblegum pink with a purple undertone, frosty translucent blues, and glossy lacquer scarlet,” they continue.

“Other ways to freshen up your space include incorporating fun vintage pieces,” shares Goesling. “We always love finding unique finds from estate sales or local artisans. Other details like fringe, raw materials and handcrafted items are having a moment too.”
Good design takes time, and pieces that are lived-in, well-worn, and have a story to tell are becoming increasingly popular. This year’s interior trends are less about curating a home that looks like it belongs in a showroom and more about curating a space you love, regardless of the trends. Spring is the perfect time to rearrange a room, bring in new pieces, and experiment with your decorating style. Buying second-hand is a fantastic way to create a space that feels like it was collected over time, rather than all at once.

Decks, patios, porches and backyards are ready to be revived! “Spring is usually the time when we realize how heavy everything has started to feel during the winter, so we try to lighten it up by removing a few layers, introducing more airy materials, and making our outdoor space usable again,” Barrett Oswald, senior designer at Barrett Oswald Designssaid.
