Speaking directly to viewers in a TikTok video posted on Friday, the singer said she believes the condition has been present in her life for a long time, even though she only recently recognized it.
“I learned from a young age to pretend to like things, to pretend to be happy, to pretend to not like the things that I do, to pretend like everything is okay,” Doja Cat said. “I’m going to do it. And it caught up with me, and I think it always does for people. I’m now dealing with BPD.”
The artist suggested that years of hiding her true feelings may have contributed to the emotional toll she faces today.

During the emotional conversation, Doja Cat admitted that the struggles of being diagnosed have lasted much of her life. She explained that the challenges she associates with BPD did not appear overnight, but have likely been present for years.
