US police say the suspected shooter at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner had several weapons on him when he charged a security checkpoint.
Surveillance video released by Donald Trump shows the suspect walking past metal detectors as security officers draw their weapons.
Washington D.C. Police Chief Jeffery W. Carroll said officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect and a U.S. Secret Service agent was “hit in his vest.” He was taken to hospital and is said to be “in good spirits.”
The suspect, who police described as a “lone shooter,” was not hit by gunfire but was also taken to a hospital for evaluation.
