Pokemon cannot be stopped. This represents the equivalent of the GDP of some countries on a monthly basis, and there are so many different branches in the company all this brings in money; it’s far from the hype many parents expected back in the ’90s. From the physical trading card game, to multiple digital iterations of the TCG, to the mainline games and their spinoffs, it’s a never-ending cycle.
This cycle also includes goods. The Pokémon Center is ready and willing to offer merchandise to fans of almost any Pokémon, even the less popular ones. In this case, though, you might want to cheer yourself up a bit, because these are fan favorites.
On the official Pokémon Center website, you can get two exclusive Squishmallows right now. They are based on an iconic starter and an evolution of an iconic Pokemonwhich could also be considered a starter of sorts.
Live now on the Pokémon Center website, you can find a 12-inch Squishmallow plush toy for Oshawott and Raichu. With an embroidered Pokémon Center Poké Ball logo on the back, these are official Squishmallow releases, and they measure 10 inches wide and cost $29.99 USD.
Here are the details of this exclusivity: “In a 12-inch size exclusive to the Pokémon Center, this ultra-squeezable Raichu Squishmallows plush toy is made with soft, high-quality materials and features Raichu’s adorable smile and curly ears. It’s perfect for snuggling in the car, on the plane, or at home during a Pokémon movie marathon.”
While Oshawott comes from the fifth generation of Pokémon games (Black and white), Raichu is an evolved form of Pikachu, which was a sort of starter in two games: Pokémon Yellow And Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu. It remains a popular part of Pokémon culture, playing a role in other forms of Pokemon media.
Plus, it even has two Mega forms thanks to the release of Pokémon Legends: ZA DLC, Mega Dimension. Since Raichu is eternally connected to Pikachu, he will always be in the spotlight to some extent.
Speaking of the fifth generation of Pokemonwe are still waiting for confirmation of the Generation 5 remakes. All eyes were on the recent Pokémon Presents, which revealed the 10th generation of Pokemon via Winds and wavesbut there wasn’t even the slightest hint of a Gen 5 remake project. Leaks suggested it wasn’t even in development, which would be a huge change of pace, considering the series has undergone remakes for Generations 1-4 over the years.
However, as mentioned previously, Pokemon will be around for many decades, so there’s plenty of chance of a Generation 5 remake at some point.
