Israel and Lebanon agreed Wednesday to renew a ceasefire, provided the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group holds back all its fire, the representatives said in a joint statement after the talks in Washington. Just hours after the deal was reached, air raid sirens sounded in northern Israel after an alert about a “suspicious aerial target,” but it was unclear where it was coming from.
