The temporary organization behind the Ministry of Government Effectiveness has reached its scheduled end date of Saturday July 4, 2026.
President Donald Trump’s executive order last year creating the US DOGE Service Temporary Organization set the end date for this temporary organization as July 4, 2026.
“Smaller government, with more efficiency and less bureaucracy, will be the perfect gift to America on the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence,” Trump said in announcing the initiative.
DOGE claims to have saved $215 billion, including by removing duplicate software licenses, canceling diversity, equity and inclusion grants, and terminating underutilized office leases. This figure has been disputed and DOGE government revenues do not fully document claims of overall savings. The webpage showing DOGE savings showed $215 billion in estimated savings as of Sunday.
