After speaking with Zelensky, Trump will have another important meeting – with Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu. It is the first time the two men have met in person since the war against Iran began in late February.
Zelensky and Netanyahu are in Washington to attend the funeral of Senator Lindsey Graham, who died this month at the age of 71.
The war in Ukraine appeared to coincide with the war between the United States, Israel and Iran this weekend, when Ukrainian forces target Iranian cargo ship in Caspian Sea.
kyiv described Iran as a “direct accomplice to Russian aggression against Ukraine” and Zelensky said Ukrainian intelligence had evidence that Russia had shared satellite images with Tehran, allowing Iran to attack U.S. and Gulf state military installations.
Trump said he would “find out if it’s true.” I’ll ask Putin about it,” while asserting that if it were true, it would have had no impact.
Meanwhile, in Moscow, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said more than 390 Ukrainian drones targeted the region between 8:30 p.m. Monday and 6:30 a.m. Tuesday local time, and most were intercepted by air defenses.
Footage confirmed by BBC Verify showed damage to a high-rise building in Chekhov, south of the capital, and a fire at a warehouse in Berezhki, to the west. Local authorities in Chekhov said there were no casualties.
Since Zelensky’s last conversation with Trump in early July, Ukraine has repeatedly targeted logistics centers, many of which belong to Russian e-commerce company Wildberriesexacerbating the problems facing small and medium-sized businesses in some regions of Russia.
