Tyler Reddick continues to live his dream. Reddick must have thought that maybe the luck of the race had finally turned against him when his car sputtered. Spray caused him to lose the lead with a few laps remaining Sunday at Kansas Speedway. But a caution with less than two laps remaining rearranged the field, and Reddick was able to rally after a bad restart to pass Kyle Larson for the win. “Was that crazy or what?” Reddick said in his FOX interview after experiencing burnout. It was the 23XI Racing driver’s fifth victory this Cup season, which is just nine races long. The last time a driver won five of the first nine races was Dale Earnhardt in 1987. That year, he won six of the first nine. Here are my takeaways: 1: Reddick collects checkered flags Reddick has so many winning flags that he probably doesn’t know what to do with them all. Perhaps that’s why he gave the checkered flag to his team’s co-owner, basketball icon Michael Jordan. “If he wants to go out [with] we have to do some understudies for him,” Reddick said. Jordan has been to most of the races this year. “This kid is on fire,” Jordan said on FOX. “I don’t know if I can calm him down. He’s incredible.” 2: Hamlin unlucky at Kansas For the second race in a row at Kansas, Denny Hamlin looked like he might win before a late restart saw him slip away. Last fall, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver tangled with a car he owns – that of 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace – which ultimately allowed Chase Elliott to win. He took the inside for the overtime restart on Sunday and it bit him, as Larson left the restart. It wasn’t the first time Larson performed this move on Hamlin “I have to learn from these mistakes that I’m making, not executing these last few laps,” Hamlin said on FOX 3: Larson’s winless streak continues Kyle Larson, the 2025 Cup champion, saw his winless streak extend to 33 races, with his last victory coming at Kansas almost a year ago. looked like Larson was going to steal the win with his move late in the race, but once Reddick was able to get his car back after the chaotic restart, Larson couldn’t hold anything back. victim of contact with Reddick on the restart and finished 20th Chase Briscoe was the big winner (other than Reddick) as he moved from 10th to third in the final two laps 4 ½: What’s next? High speeds and tight groups often lead to big, brutal wrecks. 2024 for 23XI Racing.
