Pearl Abyss published Crimson DesertThe biggest update ever, adding a plethora of new content, while teasing more to come.
Version 1.04.00 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox and PC via Steam and Epic Games, but will roll out to Mac at a later date.
The biggest takeaway from the patch is the addition of Easy, Normal, and Hard difficulty modes, the latter of which is, according to the studio, “for experienced Greyheads looking for more intense and exciting combat,” which will provide a greater challenge.

Easy mode will cause all damage taken by the player to be reduced, as well as the maximum health, aggression, and overall speed of all enemies.
There’s also an expanded timing window for parrying and dodging, and the mode also reduces the frequency of bosses attempting to counterattack or escape when hit.
Normal mode is what you’d expect, a balanced experience and one that players have been accustomed to since the game launched, while Hard mode introduces an increase in damage taken by the player, an increase in maximum health, aggression and overall opponent speed for enemies, a reduced timing window for parrying, dodging and invincibility duration for throwing.
The frequency of bosses attempting to counterattack or escape when hit has also been increased, and some bosses also have additional combat patterns.

Speaking of which, Pearl Abyss also teased a new boss replay mode, which would allow players to “face bosses of their choosing”, a feature that will be added “soon”.
Along with a ton of UI, quality of life, and performance improvements, the patch also adds new storage content, including the 1,000-slot Sturdy Gatherables chest, which can be configured with the housing system.
There’s also the Kuku Cooler and the Enhanced Kuku Cooler, offering 40 and 330 slots respectively, as well as a Collectibles Chest that has 1,000 slots.
An outfit storage feature for the wardrobe is also now available, offering 100 slots.
“Each cabinet provides 100 storage slots, and the total storage capacity increases depending on the number of cabinets placed,” Pearl Abyss explained, but the maximum outfit storage capacity is 1,000 slots.
