Somehow, Kylo Ren has returned! Adam Pilote wanted to revisit the character of Ben Solo from “Star Wars” in a new film set after the events of 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker.” Unfortunately, it was shot down by Disney executives who couldn’t see how Ben Solo was alive. In this film, Rey (Marguerite Ridley) helped redeem Kylo Ren, and he returned to his identity as Ben Solo. After Rey died defeating the resurrected Emperor Palpatine, Ben Solo donated his life force to bring her back to life. As he did so, he seemed to die and disappear into the Force. While it’s unclear where the character will go from here, his time as Kylo Ren is revisited in an all-new story.
Kylo Ren will return to a galaxy far, far away

On May 15, screenwriter and novelist Charles Soule sent an exciting surprise to “Star Wars” fans in his monthly newsletter. He began the comic series with “The Rise of Kylo Ren”, which explored Ben Solo’s path to falling to the dark side.
The second story, “Star Wars: Vader’s Legacy – The Reign of Kylo Ren”, explores the events immediately after “The Last Jedi”, where Kylo Ren struggled to become the new Supreme Leader of the First Order after killing Supreme Leader Snoke.
The third story, “The Fall of Kylo Ren”, will take place around the time of the opening of “The Rise of Skywalker”. This likely means it will take place before he comes face to face with Emperor Palpatine, although it may give some clues as to how to find him.
“REIGN gave him clarity, even a kind of happiness. FALL is the last piece of the puzzle. I hope those of you following this story enjoy it,” Soule teased, adding, “And Tava Ren is in it.”
Who is Tava Ren?
Looking back, aside from just wanting more Star Wars sequel trilogy material, I STILL really want to follow up on Tava Ren’s big reveal.
This was a great comic book issue, but too much has happened in real life where it now seems like an eternity since the last comic came out. #StarWars pic.twitter.com/3WH9AE4QhE

For fans who haven’t followed the comics too closely, Tava Ren is a Force-sensitive user introduced in “The Reign of Kylo Ren.” She appears in two issues. One of them details how Supreme Leader Snoke drove out the Knights of Ren and how she became responsible for their group.
The second is when she goes to Kylo Ren to kill him. However, they end up having dinner together, and she reaches across the table and kisses him. He quickly retreats and orders his troops to kill her; however, she manages to steal a ship and manages to escape. When General Hux asks if he wants to shoot the ship, Kylo Ren decides to walk away and let her escape.
Some fans have wondered if Tava Ren had been introduced as a possible love interest for Kylo Ren; However, it is unclear what role she will play in this story, as she does not appear to be in “The Rise of Skywalker.” Kylo Ren has the Knights of Ren around him when he builds his helmet, then defeats them right before fighting Emperor Palpatine at the end of the film. It is therefore unknown whether he defeats Tava in combat in order to regain control of his knights.
When will this new Kylo Ren comic come out?
🚨 Charles Soule will be responsible for the next 5-part miniseries which will be broadcast in August!

According to ScreenRant, “The Fall of Kylo Ren” will be a much shorter five-issue series releasing in August. Soule teamed up with artist Will Sliney to share this new chapter in the character’s journey.
Although Soule called it the “Kylo Ren trilogy” in his newsletter, he admitted that it was possible that he would revisit the Kylo Ren story somewhere down the road with another issue. It’s possible he’ll adapt at least some of the events planned for “The Hunt for Ben Solo” into a comic if it generates enough interest.
Inside Adam Driver’s Abandoned ‘The Hunt For Ben Solo’ Movie

In October 2025, Adam Driver revealed that he had worked with the director Steven Soderbergh to make a movie they called “The Hunt for Ben Solo”, in which he would have reprized his role as Ben Solo. The film would have taken place after the presumed death of Ben Solo at the end of 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker.”
The project had been secretly in development for over two years, with a full script written by Scott Z. Burns. The driver told AP News it was “one of the coolest [expletive] scripts that I had already participated in.
According to Driver, Disney executives Bob Iger and Alan Bergman shot down the script even though it already had approval from Lucasfilm. “They didn’t see how Ben Solo was alive,” Driver said at the time. “And that was it.”
Although “Star Wars” fans launched a campaign to bring the film back, Soderbergh has since said he considered the project abandoned for good and had no plans to return to it if asked.
