- The Anker Nano Charger has a built-in screen
- Designed for iPhones, it can display charging power, battery percentage, etc.
- The reactions seem quite mixed
If – somehow – you don’t already have enough screens in your life, there is now another type of product that can be equipped with a screen, as at CES 2026, Anker revealed a new charger with a screen.
Dubbed the Anker Nano Charger, it has a small screen on the side that can display one of more than 20 interfaces, displaying information such as the amount of charging power used and the charge percentage your device has reached.
There’s also a button on the charger to switch between standard charging and a TÜV-certified care mode that can reduce battery temperature, and the display can indicate which mode you’re currently using.
It’s a 45W charger designed primarily for iPhones and iPad Pros, and it’s capable of identifying recent models when plugged into it. Presumably some display features also require it to be plugged into a device it recognizes, so the screen might become less useful if you use it with other gadgets.
Screen aside, this is a compact charger, and its prongs can be oriented in two different positions, so it should fit comfortably in almost any outlet.
It’s priced at $39.99 (around £30/AU$60), which isn’t cheap but makes it competitive with Apple’s screen-less 40W charger.
An addition that divides
But do you really need a screen? Based on reactions on Reddit, opinions are mixed. One commenter wondered “Why do small chargers need screens? My laptop and iPhone already tell me if they’re charging fast or slow,” while another described it as “technological slop.”
On the other hand, one person said it “looked cool,” while another noted that she likes to know how much power a specific charger draws when she’s on her boat, so she can better manage power usage, which is a niche use case where it might be practical.
Still, whether they’re useful or not, most people probably already have perfectly good chargers. So it really comes down to whether adding a screen is worth buying a whole new one. The answer to this question is probably no for the majority of people, but again, it’s a point of differentiation in a product type that can struggle to stand out. So it makes sense that Anker would offer this.
If you want an Anker Nano charger, you’ll be able to purchase it in the US on January 20, and you can sign up now for a 25% early bird discount. Availability in other countries has not yet been confirmed.
