Prime Day is coming earlier than ever this year. Here’s everything you need to know before the chaos begins.

Amazon’s Prime Day sale is happening earlier this year and now we know exactly when. Amazon confirmed in the last announcement that the sale will run June 23-26, breaking out of its July slot for the first time in years.

Moving the event to June means deals are arriving sooner, which is great news if you left the big spring sale with a wish list that wasn’t quite finished. But it also leaves you with less time to budget and less time for competitors to plan for simultaneous sales, as many have done during previous Prime Day events. In his announcementAmazon said June Prime Day would take place in 26 countries.

This will be the first time in a long time that Amazon has held its Prime Day summer event this early. In recent years, Prime Day has landed right after July 4th sales. Competitors like Best Buy and Walmart typically hold competing sales. So it’s possible that other major retailers will be scrambling to prepare for a date before June. However, July is a good time to promote back-to-school gear, and the latest ad gives a nod to it as part of the sale. It remains to be seen what actually ends up on the shelves and at what prices.

Prime Day has traditionally taken place in July, since 2015. However, this wouldn’t be the first change we’ve seen. In 2020, it was pushed back to October due to COVID-19; the following year the event took place in June. In 2022, the retailer hosted events in July and October. In fact, the retailer expanded the 48-hour sale to a full four days last year, meaning we could see a similar plan roll out this year as well.

While you don’t need to be a Prime member to shop during the sale, many of the best Prime Day deals were previously exclusive to Prime members. If you have considered signing up for a Prime subscriptionmaybe it’s time. Prime membership comes with lots of benefits.

Should you wait until Prime Day before buying anything?

Prime Day is a great time to buy big-ticket items, like TVs, e-bikes, and outdoor gear like grills. If you need them in advance, you may not be able to wait, and there are some pretty good deals on these before any event. Prime Day often has better deals than even Black Friday, so it’s worth waiting out the sale if you can.

What will be on sale throughout Prime Day?

A lot! Last year, Prime Day featured more than 100,000 deals, and while many of them were small discounts on small products, many of them were great deals on the bigger items mentioned above. The biggest deals will be on Televisions, laptopselectric bikes and vacuum cleaners (especially robot vacuum cleaners), as well as power plants and outdoor grills.

For 2026, Amazon’s announcement already mentions first offers of up to 65% reduction on Amazon devices and on books, Audible and Prime Video. So that’s a good starting point.
