A Prayer to Refresh Yourself in the Presence of God
By Keri Eichberger
Bible reading:
I will refresh the weary and satisfy the weak. (Jeremiah 31:25)
Listen or read below:
Weariness simmers just beneath the surface of my soul. And oh, how I want to delete it. To wash away everything remains weak from burden and breakage. To restore strength to my body and song to my spirit. To find the sweet scent of refreshment that breathes new life into my inner being. And hold it firmly until it sticks and stays.
You also crave a satisfying stream of refreshments, I know. Whether you desperately need it right now or need to dig a little deeper to notice your need, you also crave to be renewed and refreshed. This is where you find the enjoyment of life you long for. Where you gain a perspective of goodness around you and the bright hope of more good to come. Where we feel free to live and love freely. Where do you find relief from the chains of exhaustion? That dreaded place you find yourself in again and again when life wears you down with its demands, expectations, and incessant calls to hurry up and hurry up. It’s exhausting to give more, do more, try harder and work faster. To keep going and never stop. When you finally exhaust yourself to the point of total weariness. And you’re dying for a tall glass of refreshment. For a tasty sip of the living water of the Lord that refreshes the weary and satisfies the weak.
And here is the beauty. You can have it today. And every day. The hands of our Almighty Father are outstretched and open, reaching out to you with a bottomless flow of His refreshment. Always. He is present. He is peace. He is power. And he is waiting for you to come to him and receive him. Its flow never stops. It is abundant and satisfies the deepest void, quenches the greatest thirst and fills the emptiest soul.
Let us turn to him now. Let us pause and drink from the fountain of His presence. Feel Him filling you with His peace, protection, comfort, and care. Notice how it refreshes every weary well of your heart and revives the hibernating seeds of strength in your soul. Sit quietly with him, stay there with him, fill up on him – your Lord, Savior and friend Jesus – now, every hour after, and again and again.
When you look to the Lord, He will indeed refresh and satisfy your soul. He is always waiting and ready to refresh and satisfy your soul.
Let us pray:
Jesus, my friend, you are living water. You are my continuing source of refreshment. The only constant source that never dies or dries up. You offer renewal to my weary soul every time I turn to you. There are days and moments when I am overcome by weariness from the weight of the world. And I admit that I don’t always turn directly to you to restore my spirits. But I know I should. Only you can fulfill all of my deepest desires, and you long to do it for me.
I commend You for always refreshing me as I sit in Your presence, as I surrender to Your power, and as I simply receive Your unconditional love and peace. Lord, fill me now with your refreshment. With the satisfaction of your living water. With your love, comfort and peace. And Lord, may I grow in my desire to run to You repeatedly to be satisfied. Strengthen my confidence in the truth that your blessings are always available in overflowing abundance. I praise you for the refreshment and satisfaction I find in you, without fail. Thank you, Lord.
In your refreshing name, Amen.

Many sincere believers experience periods when prayer seems empty, Scripture seems quiet, and God seems strangely absent. For leaders in particular, these seasons can seem confusing, discouraging, and even shameful.
