In the Lands Between, Queen Marika is one of the most influential figures despite being an enigma for most of the game. As the mother of the demigods, we fight throughout Ancient Ring, Queen Marika is responsible for The Shattering, which triggers the events of the game, but in this all-new version, players can become the iconic figure for the first time.
Created by TomJerry125, Queen Marika playable in full does exactly what it says on the tin by allowing Ancient Ring players the chance to take on the role of Queen Marika as they travel through the Midlands in what many consider to be Software master work. Although it was first released in June, this free downloadable mod already has over 400 downloads, showing that the mysterious Ancient Ring This figure still manages to captivate our imagination today.
Arriving with a boss-inspired moveset, unique attacks, animations, and a godlike fighting style, Queen Marika is guaranteed to devastate the battlefield, even if that means facing her own children and ilk along the way.
“Become the queen herself and wield all of Marika’s power,” the mod’s description reads. “This mod lets you play as Queen Marika, replacing your character’s moves with her boss abilities. Experience her divine attacks, graceful animations, and powerful fighting style inspired by her appearance in the game.”
Designed to work seamlessly with the latest version of Ancient ring, THE Fully playable Queen Marika module comes with detailed instructions on how to install it on your game if you own the FromSoftware title on PC, so don’t worry if you are new to the world of modding.
Although over the years many players have added Queen Marika to their game by replicating her image in the character customization, this mod allows you to add the character herself, acting not just as a character skin, but as a hero in her own right with her own moves and abilities.
Not only that, but it starts a discussion about whether the bosses we fight along the way should become playable characters at the end of the Souls game. Imagine playing again Ancient Ring but like Malenia for example, complete with her waterfowl dance. It’s safe to say that combat would be much easier and more exciting.
For now, however, mods such as Fully playable Queen Marika are the closest thing to it, but with a large fan base already behind it, it’s definitely the next best thing to Ancient ring.
