The previously announced Simplified Progression mode is actually a story mode for people who want to follow Cloud and his Avalanche pals on their journey through Midgar to overthrow Shinra without having to deal with all the difficulties that can arise from combat, and especially certain boss encounters. Instead of making the game too easy, players can have their characters already maxed out and dealing as much damage as possible.
While included at launch in new ports, the patch will allow existing players on PC and PS5 to play with the mode as well.
